Pride, New York, 2014

Street portraits of the crowd at the Pride Parade in New York. 45 years after the Stonewall riots. One day every year the streets of lower Manhattan turns into a sea of faces that you don’t normally see on 5th Avenue and 23rd. Queer folks from all the boroughs. Freedom and a safe space, thousands of your own kind. Diversity of pride and joy. 45 years later there was a lot to celebrate on this day. If only every day could be like this, where everyone feels welcome everywhere in the city.
